HEY MY NAME IS SYLVIA. IM A HARD OF HEARING (DEAF) VOLUNTEER AT KINGSLAND FIRE AND RESCUE. IM IN TRAININGS FOR WHATEVER I NEED TO TAKE. THERE IS FIRE FIGHTING 1 CLASS COMING UP SOON... I WAS LOOKING SO MUCH FORWARD TO IT BUT I WAS DISAPPOINTED WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT MY COCHLEAR IMPLANT TECHNIQUE IS NOT WATERPROOF OR FIREPROOF (HEAT). SO I CANT GO INTO A LIVE BURN FIRE STRUCTURE AT ALL. BECAUSE OF THE TECHNIQUE ISSUE. NOT BECAUSE OF HEARING. I DONT KNOW HOW MUCH I CAN HEAR IN THE LIVE BURN. BUT I JUST CANT GO IN THERE WITH MY COCHLEAR. ONE OF MY CHIEFS TOLD ME TO RESEARCH ONLINE AND SEE IF I CAN CHAT WITH A DEAF FIREFIGHTER AND SEE HOW HE BECAME A CERTIFIED FIREFIGHTER? THE CHIEF ALSO MENTIONED ABOUT ADA BUT WHAT SHOULD I DO? IS THERE A WAY I CAN STILL GO TO THE CLASS AND BE CERTIFIED AND NOT GO IN THE LIVE BURN? I NEED ALL THE ADVICES AND TIPS AND LET MY CHEIF KNOW WHAT I HAVE FOUND OUT... THANKS...
