You're right but the 1 1/2" or 1 3/4" handline are the go-to for the fire service at residential structure fires. This structure was well involved by the time they arrived creating way to many BTU's for the minimal flow from these lines. The fire had self-vented and had hold of at least half the structure. It did not seem like the initial attack lines were doing anything except for feeding the flames from the dash cam and helmet cam views. Helmet cam guy's 2.5" line seemed to be the only one that actually extinguished the fire, and did it quickly. At least that is what it looked like - no darkening down until he opened up.
