Firefighter moving power line

A firefighter handles a power line, pulling it off the ground to allow a fire truck to pass without touching it. The person who posted it on YouTube said it was a live line and was really critical of the firefighters for doing this.

Guys, I am an electrician and unless that fiberglass pole is RATED for and you KNOW the voltage of that downed power line, DO NOT TOUCH IT! Just because your line officer tells you to do something doesn't automatically make it safe. I can pretty much guarantee you don't know whether that high line is 2700v, 13,500v or 240v...why would you take that risk? There are many other factors to consider as well like another line coming down on it creating a phase-to-phase arcing near or on you. That ...

Pic's are never what they seem?I would assume it was tagged out--and pole was a precaution

You shouldn't condem people when you don't even know whats going on here. From the video you can tell that this is a secondary line which means it's not high voltage. If it is hot the only way it is going to arc is for it to touch something grounded. I wouldn't have any problem moving it with a fiberglas pike pole.

There's no way of telling if the line was energized or not from the video. You can reasonably suspect that it isn't due to the lack of arcing when touched with the pike pole. So, in defense of the guy that moved it let's all hope it was KNOWN that it was de-energized prior to that move otherwise... WTF?????
