Only one way to sum this up...no matter how much you spend on PPE or training, some dumbass just doesn't get it!

I bet JOHN WAYNE will put his chin strap on next time.At least the guy grabbing the hose had his on.Since it had already vented it'self it was probably clean smoke no need for airpacks..haha

Personally I never ever approach a car (let alone van) on fire without breathing aparatus and full face mask. Cars are full of chemicals an produce some of the most toxic fumes there are. Let alone all the small explosions you can get.
Video looks like amateurism.
Second thought: it is a van. Wonder if any-one has checked what is in the back of the van. The ladder can indicate it is a painter using the van. Paints on fire.... hmmm nice. Or mayby a litlle gas-bottle or two for a welder?
Any...

MAGNESIUM guys MAGNESIUM, not "magnisime" lol
but ya, poor display of following s.o.p's, dont know what someone is trying to prove responding to a call like that, Cairnsfirefighter is right thats how we get killed

Thank you, to every person who commented on this video, you are all correct. What a debacle. This is a re-run of F Troop and the Officer should be sacked as ultimately it is his/her fire scene and safety of the firefighters was their responsibility...they did everything WRONG as has been pointed out. No wonder firefighters get killed with this sort of behaviour....this is basic "bread and butter stuff"....get it right.

Just the approach to this incident speaks "casual" and "routine". We have to remember and reinforce that there is nothing "routine" on the fireground.
No SCBA and no apparent eye protection. Other fire fighters not wearing PPE and an apparent bystander entering the scene. Apparatus parked too close. Time to review the SOG's / SOP's, and do some vehicle fire fighting practice.
Hope the fire fighter was okay, and suffered no long term injuries from this "oh s**t" experience.

They must not be real f/fs. They either play one on tv or they stayed at a holiday inn express at one time or another. What were they thinking when they got off the engine? Another routine call? Not this time. Looks like someone got their eye poked out!

Amen brothers. There is no excuse for the disregard for safety shown in this video. If any of our guys thought bout doing what these guys did our cheif would be all over our asses in a heart beat. And he had the stream going straight in at a downward angle toward the engine block like u said magnisime and water don't mix which should be comman knowledge. Constructive criticism TRAINING you guys DO IT!

I'll start by saying hopefully this guy is ok. To, firemanmn, I would absolutely be critical! This is an inexcusable injury. Third, typical fire service with no discipline, all the guys with no gear go running right in. Sorry guys, FAIL!!

UN-BE-LEV-ABLE!! Where the hell is everyone's SCBA? No eye protection at all? I think Evansville's s.o.p.'s are a bit behind the times, no?
wow, you'd get the sack here for that, no scba, visor up, no eye protection and not doing up your chin strap, 4 notes to file, seeya. not to mention hitting the block like that, ka-blam..
water vs magnisime goes boom. where the hell is their SCBA.
First thought is that this could be the airbag deploying from the heat?? Secondly, not to be critical, but wouldn't scba be appropriate??
