I am a little confused as to the purpose of that ventilation operation from the start. Everyone goes home and that was a defensive operation. Where was the command on that fire ground?

A good example of the need of "situational awareness." It is easy to get too focused on the "task" and forget the situation. This also applies to the IC and other Company Officers and Personnel on scene. If you observe a situation that warrants a "may-day" or "watch-out" call it out...
