Offensive vs. Defensive: Phoenix Fire Department

A training video put together by the Phoenix Fire Department on offensive vs. defensive tactics. As crews were about to enter a medium-sized commercial building (with bow strung roof), fire was spotted venting from the roof. This is something ALL firefighters should watch.

Just shows that having an experienced officer is the key. I like the fact he was thinking offensive initially until he was aware of the fire condition. Too many first in officers go defensive if they see just a sight of flames showing from a roof or window. Nice work!

As Brunacini says, "It’s not OK to die in a structure fire.” enough said really.

Great stuff Phoenix! Hopefully this'll show it doesn't mean not fighting the fire, but it does mean evaluating the situation with sense and professionalism
